The Story of the Industrial Athlete Operating System
The IA-OS wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was forged in the fire of a real-world crisis. This is the timeline of its creation.
- The Crisis (Mid-2000s): Humtown Products, a successful family business, faces the brink of bankruptcy amidst economic turmoil. Traditional management methods fail, creating friction and crushing team morale.
- The Breakthrough (Late 2000s): Led by Mark Lamoncha and guided by strategic insights from Dr. Tim Figley, the leadership team makes a pivotal discovery: the root of the problem isn’t the process, but the people-paradigm. They abandon the “employee” model for the “Industrial Athlete” concept, shifting their focus from compliance to performance.
- The Systemization (The 2010s): The team develops, tests, and refines the core components of the IA-OS: the Four Shifts (Management to Coaching, Employee to Athlete, Workplace to Performance Center, Egosystem to Ecosystem) and the patented Visual Earnings System (VES).
- The Proof (2020): The system’s success culminates in Humtown being named the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) 2020 Manufacturer of the Year, validating the IA-OS on a national stage alongside companies like General Motors and IBM.
- The Mission (Today): Mark and Tim now dedicate themselves to sharing this proven blueprint, helping organizations everywhere transform their workplaces and unleash their people’s true potential through their book, speaking engagements, and executive offsites.
